It's been a little intense over here lately.
For those of you who don't know, this is where I live:
I didn't join the hordes of revelers who inundated downtown, but not because I didn't feel their excitement. I knew that any enjoyment I got from Being There Live would be drowned out by the cold and the crowds and my own overwhelmedness, so I worked from home and watching streaming video and cried my little eyes out.
As you might imagine, in the run-up to the event, the city was a little batty, what with the excitement and the preparation and all of the extra people.
And on top of that, I spent last weekend at my semi-annual Enneagram meditation retreat, working on be aware of the polarities we live within, the polarities we impose upon ourselves, and learning to be present to all of it, including the polarities, including the things I don't want.
And on top of that, we've had serious animal drama at our house. About six weeks ago, Phoebe broke her foot (we're still not sure how). At first she and the split got along swimmingly, but then the split contributed to an ulcerated dew claw, and Phoebe contributed to dismantling the splint. Then we had to find a way to splint her foot that both left her dew claw free and didn't make it swell unduly because it was the only un-splinted part. And then, it turns out, a part of the split started digging into her foot and caused a big, bloody hole. Good thing the bones were fused enough that we could forego the split altogether, because you can't splint over an open wound. But it was a period in which, if we went to the vet ONLY once a week, we felt blessed.
And? (I know, there's more!) Max has Inflammatory Bowel Disease (we think), and he's on daily steroids to help him absorb food again so he can gain back the FIVE POUNDS he lost in three months and I'm trying to keep my fingers in the meantime. Ms. P had an emotional dip, and then a smaller dip along the road to recovery. But I'm also reading and thinking and meditating and cleaning and baking.
In the grand scheme of things, things are well. Many things are better than well.
Hey, it's good to get a glimpse of you!
Hugs
