This no-sugar, no-wheat, no-dairy thing? It ROCKS.
Seriously. We expected it to be like a diet; we expected to feel deprived, miserable, sad, resentful. Ms. P only signed on to humor and support me, and only because she really loves me.
We feel none of those things. Sure, the first few days were brutal, but now? Our energy has stabilized, we're eating substantially less than we were before because we're less hungry, and our moods aren't roller-coastery. And get this -- I'm actually being able to feel my breath in my sinus! Only one of them so far, but that's one more than I've had in as long as I can remember. My period, which as you know can be brutal, was a little twingey, but nothing I couldn't ignore, and it was markedly lighter as well.
We couldn't have done any of it without the magic sleep machine, because the magic sleep machine is what gave Ms. P the energy to actually cook. Without that, this food plan would have crashed and burned. With it, though, she made homemade mayonnaise because store-bought mayo all has sugar in it. (You wouldn't believe what has sugar in it.) She got up this morning and cooked chicken for breakfast. We're finding all kinds of amazing recipes that fit the plan and that are so tasty we want to make them all the time.
While not the goal, it's likely that both of us are going to end up losing weight, because we're eating so well and so much less than we were before. It's a nice side benefit, especially since neither of us is at the weight that feels right to us, but it's not the point.
The point is that we both feel really, really good. We spent the weekend running errands and cooking and studying and cleaning, and it's bloody hot outside, and we still feel like it was a relaxing, rejuvenating weekend. How 'bout them apples?
Sleep and good food. It's just about enough.
Wow. How terrific!
